161 Nigerians, who have been stranded in Libya for the past
few weeks returned back to the country successfully.
The move back to Nigeria
was made possible by International Organization for Migration, IOM, after their
assistance was requested for by the FG after confirming that they were willing
to return home. The group was made of over 100 females, 60 males, 7 children,
and 2 babies.
The Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Mohammed Sidi, who
revealed that the deportees will be assisted in whatever way to assist them get
to their various destinations. He warned that those leaving the country for
greener pastures should reason it out properly before embarking.
The NEMA boss said, “We
are giving them some stipends. We need to let them realize that the
country they left some years ago is not the same country they are
meeting today. We have moved ahead and everybody now has equal
