A 28years old female banker appeared in Tinubu Magistrates
Court over an alleged assault on a Divisional Police Officer. The accused who
was later identified as Adaobi Obi, works with one of the new generation banks
in the city of Lagos. The Prosecutor Inspector Ben Ekundayo who represented the
force stated in his declarations that the accused on Jan 27th around
6pm, assaulted the Police Officer who was carrying out his official duties at
United Bank for Africa (UBA) headquarters, Marina, Lagos. He went further to
state that the accused tore the uniform of the DPO in the process and left some
bruises on his face.
When SP Sina Olunlade, was called up to the dock to state his part of
the story, he narrated that he was trying to control the traffic of cars and
the accused Ms. Adaobi got impatient and hurled insults at him which led to her
assaulting him. Although, the Magistrate Mr. Ade Adefulire granted the accused
bail in the sum of 200,000 naira after she pleaded not guilty to the two-count
charge of breach of peace and assault.
The court finally adjourned the case to Feb 28th
for mention.
